Small details make a difference - Part 1

 Hello, fellow crafters

Today's post is the first in a mini series on how small details make a big difference on your cards.

Use geometric shapes behind the flowers on your cards. These circles behind the crescent-shaped arrangement of flowers create “movement” and “flow” in the design. Notice how your eyes first land on the two larger flowers on the card, then move upwards along the line of the flower arrangement, then back and to bottom right, ending on the sentiment.

I used the principle of repetition - repeating something - in adding a layer in silver mirror cardstock to enhance the silver sentiment. This gives life to the card, which would have been much less interesting without that additional layer.

The first circle was adhered flat. The smaller one was popped up with form tape, before I started arranging the flowers.

The flowers were made using the floral stamp and die Heartfelt Creations curvy floral frame set. I stamped with archival ink carnation red and coloured them partially (3 petals) with the same ink and a dauber. Then the rest of each flower was coloured with archival ink forget-me-not. After colouring, I cut the flowers out with the matching die. To shape the flowers, lay them won a flower-shaping mat, coloured side down. use a groove tool or small ball tool and start at the tip of a petal, pulling don towards the centre of the flower. Repeat with each petal. turn the flower with coloured side up, and press down in the centre with a ball ttool to make an indentation. Glue two layers together and add a flat-back pearl in the centre of each flower.

The circles are from a Studio Light die set, available in our online store at this link.
