Raspberry garden with a touch of rose gold
Make and give cards that ‘pop’ with colour and texture.
Start with pretty printed papers such as our Lemoncraft raspberry garden paper pads (The Purple Magnolia is the importer for Lemoncraft) on a card base. You can distress the edges with a distress tool or with scissors. Add stencilling with texture paste. I used The Purple Magnolia stencil S004, designed for us by Suzanne Smith Du Plessis, our talented designer. Next, add a die-cut that is ‘lifted’ with foam tape for dimension. I used Lady E Design doily die. Decorate the card with fussy-cut flowers and leaves and chipboard elements (exclusively designed for The Purple Magnolia), that are heat-embossed with rose gold embossing powder. Lastly, add a piece of tulle or gauze between the layers of flowers and leaves.
This is really an easy card with lots of interest and texture. All products are available in our online store.

Shower of stars Christmas card
For today’s Christmas card inspiration, I tried a technique shown by Jennifer McGuire, applying alcohol ink to glitter cardstock. I used two shades of blue ink. When the ink was dry, I applied white texture paste through a stencil, designed for and available from The Purple Magnolia’s online store.
I used silver embossing powder to apply heat embossing technique to the Heartfelt Creations snowy village stamp and die set.the village die-cuts were created using Heartfelt Creations silent night dies.
Vellum poinsettias were created using Heartfelt Creations Christmas poinsettia stamp and die set.
Happy crafting, until next time.

Raspberry garden explosion box
Dear fellow crafters
I must admit, I have a bit of catch-up to do on this blog. This has been a strange year, but we are thankful for blessings, and for having you as followers - many of you are my followers on Facebook, my scrapbooking group and Instagram (#purplemagnoliashop). If you want to consistently be updated, do consider following me on those platforms too, as not all projects are turned into blogs.
For a long time, I wanted to create something pretty out of the Lemoncraft raspberry garden papers and today I am happy to share a project that gave me much pleasure in the creative process.
I used half of the A4 paper pack- which, by the way, is absolutely pretty and perfect for 8x8 inch (20cm) mini albums. I used the Lady E Design cake die set and the Lady E Design doily die for creating the delightful cake inside the box.
The pretty little foamiran flowers were created from THE BEST FOAMIRAN on the market, available from 14 Craftbar, and one of the dies in the Lady E Design small flowers die set.
I also used Lady E Design tags 1 die set to create a small tag to insert behind the fussy-cut envelope. Your personal message to the recipient can be written on the tag before it is slipped in behind the envelope, which is only glued down on the left, bottom and right hand sides.
On the lid and the inside flaps of the explosion box, I added small chipboard swirls and flowers, exclusively designed for and available from The Purple Magnolia.
if you need any of the products mentioned in this blog, please click on the links (words in blue text) to take you directly to the product in our online store.
Happy crafting, until next time. remember, if you enjoyed looking at this blog, please leave me a comment below.
Happy crafting, until next time.

Reawakening in spring - mini album
Hello, fellow papercrafters
Today's inspiration is a mini album that features Fabscraps' beautiful C124 Reawakening collection. Such lovely, water-colour effect flowers.
I don't have much to say about the creative process - with such pretty papers, one does not have to do much to achieve a stunning end result. I mostly cut the paper mats to size, distressed the edges and added a few pieces of torn vellum paper and a few embellishments.
Happy crafting, until next time.

Forget-me-not explosion box
Spring is all about blossoms and blooms.
Today I bring inspiration with an explosion box that features the pretty forget-me-not papers by Lemoncraft.
I added lace leaves and a selection of chipboard elements that are exclusively available from The Purple Magnolia’s online store. These were hest-embossed with mixed media embossing powder.
Have a happy day

New beginnings: Spread your wings mixed media canvas
Only when I started creating today's post did I realise how long ago I posted. Will need to catch up by sharing some recent projects.
Today I am sharing instructions for an easy mixed media canvas.
It is an easy project, firstly, because it is a smaller canvas and therefore not as intimidating as a large blank canvas staring back at you.
If you have not tried your hand at mixed media, I encourage you to do give it a try. Remember, crafting and creating is not about creating something that is "perfect" - it is all about the creative process, relaxing and letting go.
- For this project you will need:
- · Fabscraps 20x20cm square artist canvas
- · Fabscraps silver charms corset
- · Fabscraps silver charms rose
- · Fabscraps C123 New beginnings
- · C123-005 or C123-006 paper sheet for cutting out a cluster of roses
- · Paper flowers in dusty pink and purple
- · Glass pebble
- · SnipArt chipboard butterfly
- · Stencils
- · Texture paste
- · All purpose inks in ash rose and orchid odyssey
- · Glitter and mixed media mica flakes
- · Mixed media embossing powder lilac
- · Embossing ink pad or dauber
- · Opal magic rose gold paint
- · Copper metallic craft paint
- · Dark purple acrylic ink
- · Heat tool
- · Pipette
- · Glue
- · Die-cut leaves/twigs in metallic rose gold cardstock
- · White gesso
- · Spritzer bottle with water
- · White skeleton leaf
Cut out a flower cluster from the C123-005 of C123-006 paper sheet
Apply texture paste through stencils in areas shown on the picture. Allow to dry.
With pipette, apply drops only a few of all-purpose inks.
Spritz with water to allow ink to flow in between stencilled areas. Allow to dry. You may use a heat tool to speed up the process.
Apply embossing ink to chipboard butterfly.
Sprinkle with embossing powder and melt with heat tool.
Apply a thin layer of metallic copper craft ink to the corset charm. Allow to dry.
Paint rose charm with dark purple acrylic paint. When dry, dab opal magic rose gold paint to the edges of some of the petals of the rose. Allow to dry.
Apply a thin layer of opal magic to the glass pebble.
Adhere cut-out rose cluster and all embellishments to the canvas
Apply glitter and mixed media mica flakes in some of the areas on the canvas.
